Galilean Baptist Church’s humble roots were planted in Stafford Springs on June 10, 1978, under the leadership of Pastor Bernard Whitney. The first meetings were held downtown in an old, transformed barbershop on Main Street. As the assembly increased in size, they realized the need to have a location of their own. A 35-acre wooded parcel was purchased on the outskirts of town, and in 1988, the current church building was constructed. This new property on Old Monson Road provided for the needed space to accommodate growth as well as plenty of acreage for the establishment of an annual Summer Camp for children and teens.
